Nous sommes arrivés!

We have finally arrived at the splendid Château de Grande Romaine (CGR) after a day of travelling.  Apart from some rather heavy traffic on the outskirts of Paris as we were within touching distance of our destination, the journey went fairly smoothly: a short wait at Calais, a smooth crossing and all told, a pretty clear run.

Along the way, we visited the Canadian National Vimy Memorial, taking in the monument to those who lost their lives at the Battle of Vimy Ridge and visiting the preserved WWI trenches.  Upon our arrival at CGR, we were whisked off for dinner and a short briefing before the children took part in a scavenger hunt around the grounds of the Château and then trudged happily and wearily off to bed; I’m sure we will all sleep well tonight!

Tomorrow morning we are off to the nearby village of Brie-Comte-Robert to visit the market and take part in a treasure hunt.  We will return to the Château for the on-site activities in the afternoon.  More updates to follow tomorrow evening!
