Not Just News but Breaking News!

Recently our two Year 3 classes visited the Sky Academy Skills Studio to learn about making news programmes.

They had the full use of a four recording studio set up deep in the heart of the fabulously high tech Sky complex in Brentford.  The children planned, wrote, rehearsed and filmed their four separate news segments about recycling and the environment. Each child took on one of the studio roles of producer, director, editor, camera operator or presenter. They had planned a script in class and this was then fine tuned and became the teleprompt script for the presenters.  Each studio was equipped with a green screen enabling the news broadcasts to be “filmed” in the newsroom or live location.  The editing tables were then used to put all of the film together from each studio, which was then combined with library footage (and a piece from Sky News’ Eamon Holmes) to create a special Sky News report.
