As a school we recognise that sport is a very important part of our life. In addition to learning new skills, children have the opportunity to understand the concept of teamwork and working out various strategies to outwit the opponent. Our extensive After School Clubs programme offers many opportunities for children to develop these skills. Football, Rugby, Tennis, Netball, Athletics, Cricket, and Cross Country are just a few of the sports clubs that we are able to provide on site.
We play an active role in entering teams for local competitions. We have both a Boys and Girls Football Team and a Netball Team, all of which play other schools in an Inter School League Competition. Recently our Girls Football Team were the proud winners of both the Richmond Football League and Festival competitions.
We enter co.mpetitions in Cricket, Gymnastics, Cross Country, Rugby and Swimming and respond to other competitive opportunities as they arise.
Our primary aim is to encourage all our children to enjoy and ‘have a go’ at a range of different sports whatever their ability and in so doing, understand the future benefits of exercise on their health and well being. However we actively encourage competition for those who enjoy team and individual sports.
We are fortunate to have strong links with local community sports clubs. Coaching has recently been provided by London Scottish Rugby Club, Harlequins Rugby Club, Richmond Cricket Club, Kew Park Rangers Football Club, Royal Mid Surrey Golf Club and Will to Win Tennis.
At Queen's we're hugely excited about the Olympic Games coming to London - we're signing up to be part of "Get Set" - The official London 2012 education programme, with lots of resources, ideas and opportunities to help us make the most of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
