The Journey to France
It was an early start for everyone - children, staff and parents - this morning, as a bleary-eyed coachload of Year 6 pupils headed off on School Journey 2019. We made good time to Dover, which meant we were able to catch an earlier-than-scheduled ferry for a fairly smooth crossing to Calais. A movie and a few games of Uno/ Top Trumps/ Travel Scrabble later, we stopped off at Vimy Ridge for lunch, to stretch our legs and to visit the Canadian National Vimy Memorial (pictured). The final leg of our journey felt the longest as we were full of anticipation for our arrival at the Chateau. After rooms were assigned, everyone headed down to dinner before a quick site tour and some mini-Olympics to burn off some of those calories! An early night beckons before tomorrow morning's trip to Brie market, followed by an afternoon of activities to get that adrenaline pumping!
