Queen’s Wins Battle of the Books!
Our eight strong Year 4 team have won this competition after preparing hard all year reading and analysing ten specially selected books.
The annual Battle of the Books competition is a culmination of a whole year of reading and analyzing 10 books for schools across the London Borough of Richmond. The competition takes place over a whole day and comprises three rounds, kicked off by the scary individual “Quiz” round where the children answered tricky questions on their own about the books they had studied. They were understandably very nervous at this point.
The second round was an "Art" round where they had to respond to one of the books though art. Our team created a stunning 3D piece of work that was awarded 1st place for its creativity, "out of the box" idea, visual impact and its demonstration of a deep knowledge of the book.
Lastly came the exciting drama round with 45mins to prepare a drama on a given scene from one of the books. The children performed brilliantly with emotion and again showed the judges a deep understanding of the themes running throughout the book.
The Battle of the Books team should be very proud of their achievement this year beating 25 other schools in this exciting competition. Well done! We’re thrilled that this was reported widely in the press and you can read about it here London News
