Queen's Community Concert
Around 130 performers filled the Barn Church on March 25th with singing, acting and orchestral playing.
A-Orchestra and the Yr 5/6 choir joined forces to tell us the story of "Fiddler On The Roof", which is all about life in a Jewish village during very difficult times in Russia more than a hundred years ago. The children learned the famous tunes from the 1960s musical, supported by former pupils, parents and musical friends. The Kew Community Choir joined in and we were treated to other pieces including Karl Jenkins' "Adiemus" and "Cantus Iteratus". Further highlights were former pupil Emily Wharton singing and our very own Mr Gillespie leading a rousing gospel, "Oh Happy Day". In what is now a Queen's tradition, the audience became the cannons for the glorious "1812 Overture", exploding their paper bags at the right moment! It was a wonderful evening, and raised over £1000 for the school and the Barn Church.
