The Queen's School is a Church of England Voluntary Aided, primary school in the London Borough of Richmond in the parish of St Anne’s Church, Kew.
We have places for 420 pupils divided into 2 phases:
- Phase 1: Early years, Year 1, Year 2
- Phase 2: Years, 3,4,5,6
Each year group has two classes with a maximum of 30 pupils in each class, with a teacher per class and teaching assistants to support learning across the school.
We offer wraparound care, before and after school, and a wide range of extra-curricular clubs.
Lunches are cooked on site by our team of dedicated cooks, who prepare a range of daily menu choices to provide a healthy balanced lunch. Special dietary needs can be accommodated on request. The government provides free school meals for all pupils in phase 1 and pupils in phase 2 may choose to bring a packed lunch or have a school lunch. The current menu is here.
Curriculum and Learning:
The children and their learning are at the heart of everything we do. Our broad and challenging curriculum continues throughout the school, building skills and knowledge year on year, including as children prepare for end of KS2 statutory assessments. Our Learning Certainties, which underpin all our learning, support children to understand the skills that make a ‘good learner’; skills children can take with them through the rest of their life. Every child is challenged and supported through quality adult interactions, questioning and reflection, whatever their starting point, ensuring all children achieve their potential and thrive in a positive and inclusive learning environment. Pupils with additional needs are supported by high quality teaching in the classroom and, where appropriate, additional support through our special needs provision.
At the end of year 6 our pupils are well prepared, socially, emotionally and academically to move on to a range of secondary schools, both state and independent schools.

Mental health and well-being:
Our strong personal social, emotional health (PSHE) teaching and our focus on mental health and well-being provides support for all children as they grow and develop their abilities to work with others, manage their emotions and understand their behaviour. All our staff take responsibility to promote mental health and wellbeing alongside our specially trained Mental Health first-aiders and Emotional literacy support assistant (ELSA) who provide individual and group support for pupils.
Our behaviour and anti-bullying policies focus on Emotion Coaching and Restorative Approaches and ‘Zones of Regulation’ are used consistently to ensure our school is a safe, secure and happy place in which all children can thrive.

Inclusion, Equality and diversity:
Recognising that we are all different and all have unique qualities to offer enriches our school community. We work together to celebrate and embrace our differences respecting and showing kindness towards each other in all we think, say and do.
We are committed to promoting equality of opportunity and tackling discrimination in all its forms. We work closely with our families to promote understanding and celebrate the different languages, cultures, traditions and festivals that form part of our school community.
Our curriculum incorporates diverse perspectives, so that children receive a broad viewpoint of the world around them, ensuring texts and resources are sensitive to different groups, cultures and backgrounds and children have opportunities to explore and challenge their thoughts and ideas. We have a committed staff team, with a good mix of long-serving, experienced staff alongside more recent arrivals. This enables us to provide stability and a depth of experience as well as a positive, professional learning culture for teachers at the start of their career. As a school we invest in our staff, ensuring training and professional learning are a priority. As highly motivated, reflective practitioners we ensure our staff offer the best teaching and support for all our pupils.

A Church school:
We welcome families from all faiths or no faith – we learn from and with each other, celebrating differences and similarities. As an inclusive Church of England primary school we embrace our Christian distinctiveness and ethos alongside celebrating and learning about other faiths.
Being part of a church school means:
- Being part of a community that lives and learns by the Christian values of Love Compassion and Respect, which are at the heart of everything we do - informing and guiding our policies, interactions, communications and curriculum.
- The opportunity to join in daily Collective Worship, offering all children time to reflect on and learn about Christianity, other religions and current issues. Our vicars Rev Melanie Harrington (St Luke’s) and Fr Giles Fraser (St Anne’s) lead collective worship once a week and are actively involved in the school. Other services are led by the Headteacher, the staff team and/or pupils. The programme for Collective Worship is set each year to cover a range of topics, reflecting the seasons and religious calendars of world faiths.
- Sharing prayers at lunchtime and the end of the day, often written and led by children – all children are invited to join, say their own prayers and/or reflect on their day.
- Supporting children to develop their spirituality, be reflective questioning learners and in making healthy and considered decisions with our core values to guide them on their life journey with the knowledge that God loves us all.
