Sport at The Queen’s School
We encourage all children to be active and take part in PE lessons. Each class has two PE sessions a week and at least one of those is taken by our specialist sports partner, Pleaides Leisure. In addition, we have visiting coaches and specialists from the Richmond Upon Thames Sports Development Team or from local sports clubs such as Harlequins or Richmond Knights.
From Year 2, the children also have the opportunity to play football on our 3G pitch one lunchtime a week. The children take part in a variety of planned activities including, athletics, dance and movement, netball, football, tag rugby, cricket, etc. At school all of the sport is mixed and inclusive. We also take part in outside competitions and festivals. These may be organised by the Richmond Upon Thames Sports Development Team or may be organised by other external agencies – for example we have close ties with Brentford Football Club. There are gymnastic festivals, athletics events, athletics meetings, tournaments, even golf!
In upper KS2 children represent the school in the competitive Richmond Primary leagues in ta football and tag rugby festivals and tournaments, cricket tournaments, netball g rugby, netball, girls’ and boys’ football.
