Clerk to governors
Grade NJC SO1 (Spine Point 23) or equivalent
Part time (£17.32 an hour, including allowance for holiday pay entitlement)
The Queen’s Church of England Primary School is a happy, successful Voluntary-Aided school based in the Borough of Richmond upon Thames. The Governing Board wishes to appoint a highly organised and self-motivated clerk who will play a critical role, supporting the leadership of the school in decisions which will benefit the children, colleagues, families and the local community. The clerk is accountable to the Governing Board, working effectively with the Co-Chairs of Governors, and with the recently appointed Co-Headteachers and other Governors.
With the recent changes in school leadership, this is an exciting time to join us and an opportunity for the right person to play a supporting role for the Board in steering the school through these changes. The clerk to the Governors will ensure the smooth running of the Governing Board: preparing agendas and meeting papers, taking and distributing minutes, giving administrative support, keeping records and up to date information on policies and date of reviews, and providing procedural advice. They must have excellent organisational, communication and ICT skills.
This is a part time role, covering five full Governing Board (FGB) meetings and approximately 23 committee meetings per school year. Meetings are held in term time, the majority of which are held in the morning at 8 am, with three evening meetings held at 7 pm. FGB meetings are two hours duration and committees one hour. The clerk is also expected to undertake CPD and attend local authority clerk briefings.
This is a really flexible role and whilst the meeting dates are set in the calendar, the wrap around admin support can be done at times to suit the Clerk. The estimated hours for the role are approximately 20 hours a month.
