Year 6

Welcome to the

Year Six Learning Page

Hello Year 6!

Welcome to the year 6 learning page.

As the expectation is that children will be in school, learning on Google classroom will be reduced as teachers focus on planning for their classes in school. The teachers may set projects for children to continue at home and there will still be general learning suggestions and links to BBC Bitesize and Oak Academy learning.

Google classroom

There are activities in the stream with links to your Home Learning

(Please see parent mail about how to log in and access this resource.)

Please note that there is no pressure to complete all the learning set, try to do what you can, when you can. Use the suggest timetable as a guide only.

Our suggested weekly timetable would look similar to this:

  Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday
9.00 - 9.30 English Task English Task English Task English Task English Task
9.30 - 9.45 Break
9.45 - 10.15 Maths Task Maths Task Maths Task Maths Task Maths Task
10.15 - 10.30 Break
10.30 - 11.00 History/Geography Science RE Art PSHE
11.00 - 11.30 Break
11.30 - 12.00 Daily reading/independent project work

How can I complete learning at home if I cannot access google classroom?

We are very aware that this change, won’t be suitable for everyone. So if you have limited time on a computer or are unable to access google classroom, there are lots of things you can do to keep learning going. We recommend that at the very least you keep the following skills going -

  • Maths fluency, including quick fire times table practice
  • Regular reading
  • Writing about what interests you
  • Year 5 & 6 Spelling list

There are also fantastic learning opportunities provided by Oak academy and the BBC.

Shakespeare

Thanks to Mrs Noyes, we have been made aware of an amazing resource linked with Shakespeare's The Tempest. When I say there are loads of activities there, I really mean LOADS! Again, this isn't an expectation that you log in, but you may want to access it if you wish. When you first access it, they will ask for an email and password, so you will need your parents assistance, but it is worth doing, just to have an explore. Available here: The Tempest 2020
